Living on a disk

     For centuries people have been debating whether or not the Earth is round or flat and with all the research that has been conducted over the years that has proven that the Earth is round there is still a small group of people who think otherwise. They believe that we reside on a level disk that floats through out space. They picture our planet with the North Pole in the center and Antarctic bordering around the rest of the planet. However they have no definitive answer as to why we don’t just walk right off the edge of the planet. They’re ideas are based solely on speculation and invalid concepts of physics. 

    When we look at the universe we can see examples of other planets that are round and there is no arguing those facts. However when it comes to something that most people don’t have the opportunity to witness with their own eyes the flat Earthers rule it out as a false statement. A great example of this is the NASA footage from the space station. The flat Earthers believe that all their footage is fake. They also believe that when ever we “launch” an astronaut into space in a rocket it’s really nothing more than an empty rocket. 

    We can also look at the physics behind gravity to disprove the theory’s behind the flat Earth. Just because things fall straight down does not mean we are are a flat surface, gravity pulls toward the center of mass of an object. The larger the mass is of an object the greater the pull of gravity. Therefore no matter were we stand on a sphere the pull from gravity will feel the same given the center of mass is in the center of the sphere.

   To understand anything you have to use facts and information that we know is true to be able to support your ideas along with being able to experiment and use the results to prove your conclusions. If we don’t agree with peoples ideas because you haven’t yourself witnessed them does not mean they’re a lie. You have to be able to disprove their data with facts and evidence to be able to draw an educated conclusion.
