Isaac
Newton had many great accomplishments and yet he only gets three laws. His
first law being an object in motion stays in motion in a straight line unless
acted upon by a net force. His second law being force equals mass times
acceleration. His third law being every force has an equal and opposite force. Those
three laws are what he is most recognized for. The problem is he really should
have been given a fourth law, the law of gravitation. This law states “every
particle attracts every other particle in the universe with a force which is
directly proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional
to the square of the distance between their centers” and Newton deserves to be
recognized for it. All four of these laws relate not only to astronomy but also
to physics and so many other things we see every day. We cannot just leave one
out. Without the law of gravitation Newton’s laws are truly incomplete. Why
Newton was only given three laws will always be a mystery to me.
I thought it was interesting how society just left this one part of his work out, because Newton is so famous today for his three laws. I agree that the fourth law is just as important and should gain recognition.
